Super Clean 1977 Ford F-100 Still Resides With Its Original Owner
The owner of this 1977 Ford F-100 purchased it after his dad had it for a summer, and it became a member of the family.
More so than most vehicles, Ford trucks have a knack for becoming just another member of the family. Something that people hang on to for a very long time, oftentimes to the point where they’re passed down for multiple generations. This beautiful 1977 Ford F-100 is just another example of that phenomenon, as it still lives with its original owner, who recently discussed his 40+ year love affair with The Fast Lane Truck.
The history of this particular 1977 Ford F-100 is undoubtedly fascinating. It was actually part of a program from Ford where the automaker loaned out a handful of trucks to Canadian youth for environmental work. The owner’s father was a forest ranger at the time, and took possession of this pickup for a summer. It was then turned in to a local dealership when that stint was up.
The son was following in his father’s footsteps at the time and attending maritime forest ranger school. So true to form, he began trying to locate the truck his dad had driven all summer. “I had the serial number, and went down and both the Ford garages in Fredericton had yards full of these white trucks. They’re all the same color, and they all had a sign on the door that said ‘Ford working with youth.'”
After some searching, he found the pickup and brought it home. And it’s been there ever since, only accumulating 97,000 miles since new. The owner has refurbished the classic Ford over time, and just reupholstered the seat last year. Of course, being a Canadian truck, this one had also started to rot away from winter driving. So 20 years ago, the cab floor and bed were repaired/replaced and look good as new, two decades later.
The owner describes his lifelong love as a “simple work truck,” but we know it’s far more than that. Clearly, he was smitten with this 1977 Ford F-100 from the day his father brought it home, which is what led him to go to great lengths to seek it out and keep it all these years. Now, it’s just another member of the family, one that he would clearly never consider getting rid of. And that, friends, is what makes Ford trucks so special.
