Nitto Unleashes Terra Grappler G3 A/T Tires, 47 Sizes Coming This Year
With a new rubber compound & 70K-mile warranty, Nitto Tire says its Terra Grappler G3 A/T is the “best performing Grappler tire yet.”
Full disclosure: Nitto Tire USA is a Ford Truck Enthusiasts sponsor.
In the truck world, Nitto Grappler tires are synonymous with performance. Whether you stick to highway road-tripping or have a weekend toy for mudding and rock crawling, there’s a Grappler model for your truck or SUV. In the heart of this lineup sits the Nitto Terra Grappler, which blends off-road bonafides with street-cruising manners. Today Nitto Tire USA announced its third generation Terra iteration, the Terra Grappler G3, which replaces the much-loved but discontinued G2.
“The Terra Grappler G3 pushes the boundaries of what an all-terrain tire can accomplish both on- and off-road,” said Alan Ngo, Nitto Tire U.S.A.’s Director of Product Innovation and Business Development. “It’s our best performing Grappler tire yet, backed with a compelling warranty that brings even further value to our customers.”

According to Nitto, the G3 boasts an all-new design rather than an evolutionary revision. Nitto engineers devised a new rubber compound, which improves dry and wet traction while prolonging the tire’s lifespan. Accordingly, the G3’s limited treadwear warranty is up 5,000 miles compared to the G2; 70K miles for hard metric sizes, and 55K miles for LT and floatation sizes. That’s the highest limited treadwear rating in Nitto Grappler history.
The G3’s sidewalls and tread patterns are also all-new, including two distinct side-lug patterns, giving customers the ability to choose their favorite based on tire orientation. And the new Terra Grappler carries a “3PMS” snow-rating. Meaning, this tire should outperform standard all-season tires while accelerating on medium-packed snow, but lacks the icy driving capabilities of a true winter tire.
The Terra Grappler G3 will be available starting next month (September 2024). Nitto expects to offer 47 OE and OE+ sizes by the end of this calendar year, with more coming in 2025. Wheel sizes will run from 16″ to 22″. At time of publishing, pricing has not yet been announced, so stay tuned for more there. And, since Nitto currently sponsors Ford Truck Enthusiasts, we’re hoping to get a set of tires in for review, but that’s not yet been confirmed.
Why You Should Be Excited
Naturally, no one outside of Nitto has reviewed the new Terra Grappler G3 just yet. So we can’t comment on driving dynamics, traction characteristics, and road noise. But we’re optimistic. Why? If you head over to Nitto Tire’s website, you’ll currently see all the reviews praising the previous generation G2 and bemoaning their discontinuation —
- “These tires perform in the snow, rain, mud, and everything in between. “
- “I’d give them 6 stars…” [out of 5]
- “This tire has seen it all. From highways to off-road in mud, sand, snow, floods, high speed desert wash and everything in between.”
- “Excellent tire performing on pavement, rocks, gravel, sand, snow, decent in rain… quiet, and lightweight! 65k miles on my tires now and probably could get another 10k out of them. Hoping they’re just getting a facelift to a G3?”
So if the G3 is everything Nitto Tire says, it means one of the best modern all-terrains just got even better.

We also reviewed the lighter-duty Nomad Grappler over HERE for smaller crossovers and unibody trucks like the Ford Maverick.
