Ford SUVs Post Record November Sales. F-Series on Track to Become Best-Seller Again
Ford November sales make Ford America’s best-selling automaker for the third consecutive month. EV sales are up over 150 percent.
Another month in the books and another strong showing for the Ford Motor Company. The recently released November sales figures paint a rosy picture for Ford and Ford enthusiasts alike. “Our new products continue to roll, making Ford America’s best-selling automaker for the third consecutive month, a feat last accomplished in 1974. Ford was also the only major U.S. automaker to beat year ago sales results for November. On the strength of Mustang Mach-E, Ford delivered record electrified vehicle sales, growing more than three times faster than the overall segment. Retail sales were up 4.5 percent over a year ago, with SUVs having a best ever November sales performance on record sales of our all-new Bronco family. We expect growth to continue, thanks to adding an additional 74,000 new vehicle orders in November.” Said Andrew Frick, vice president, Ford Sales U.S. and Canada.
The impressive November sales are across the Ford portfolio. Trucks, SUVs, EVs, and commercial vehicles are all on an upward trajectory. And this is all as the world still deals with supply chain issues. Ford product is strong, and their newest offerings have been massive hits with the buying public. We just wish we could get our hands on them faster. Hopefully, deliveries increase as we move through 2022. In the meantime, let’s look at some of the November sales highlights.
We may as well start with what Ford is best known for and that of course is the F-Series pickup. The F-Series is well on its way to claiming the crown as the best-selling truck. For those keeping score at home this would be year number 45 in a row. F-Series sales totaled 663,508 trucks through November of this year and has now expanded its lead to 144,049 trucks for the year. On the smaller end of the truck scale, we have the exciting new Maverick. A total of 7,228 Maverick trucks have been sold since its October launch. They don’t sit around on dealer lots for very long. Currently the average time on the lot for the Maverick is just five days. That means every Maverick is basically coming off the trailer and going right to a customer.
As we all know Ford is making a big EV push and EV sales continue to skyrocket. “Ford’s electrified vehicle sales in November grew at a rate more than three times faster than the overall electrified vehicle segment, taking Ford’s electrified vehicle share to 10 percent compared to 5.4 percent last year.” Ford sold 11,116 electrified vehicles in November. That marks a 153.6 percent increase compared to November of last year. The Mustang Mach-E continues to be a strong seller. November sales for the electric Mustang were up 8.6 percent in November compared to October. For the year the Mustang Mach-E is the second best-selling full-electric SUV in the U.S. Only the Tesla Model Y is ahead of it.
Ford SUV sales had another record month in November. “Bronco sales totaled 8,287 SUVs, up 12.5 percent, with in-transit inventory up 23 percent over October. Sales of Bronco Sport were up 24.8 percent over October with sales of 11,486 sales – once again outselling Jeep’s Cherokee and Compass combined in November.” Lincoln SUV sales are also strong thanks to the hot selling Nautilus. Year-to-date, sales of the new Nautilus are up 14.6 percent. Ford commercial vehicles also saw a significant increase in November. Ford F-650 and F-750 increased 23.4 percent over a year ago on sales of 1,376 heavy trucks. Overall Ford sales of all commercial vehicles increased by 42 percent in November.
To say that Ford had a strong month is an understatement. Ford was the only major U.S. automaker to report a year-over-year sales increase in November – up 5.9 percent over last year. And the trend looks like it will continue. For the month Ford took 74,000 new vehicle retail orders. 2021 has not been easy and we are down to the final month. But Ford has made this year one of its best. And we don’t see any signs of it slowing down. It is a good time to be a Ford fan.
