Ford F-150 Cut In Half by Nasty Wreck After Car Hits It Going 100 MPH
Somehow, the driver of this Ford F-150 walked away and is in stable condition at the hospital.
We’ve certainly seen our fair share of bad accidents over the years, and continuously come away amazed at the one involving Ford trucks. This is because no matter what runs into them – whether that be other vehicles or even trains – we’ve seen the occupants of those vehicles walk away, time and time again, a true testament to their toughness and modern safety tech. The latest example of this comes to us from Dearborn Heights, as a Ford F-150 was quite literally cut in half after a Mercedes smashed into it while traveling at 100 miles-per-hour, according to Fox 2 Detroit.
From the looks of the photos, the Mercedes smashed into the driver’s side of the Ford F-150, which separated the cab from the bed and left the former laying quite a ways away from the latter. Somehow, amazingly, the driver of the pickup and the sedan were largely unharmed and are in stable condition at the hospital, thought the same can’t be said of the Mercedes’ occupants, who are in critical condition following the crash.
As if all of that isn’t bad enough, while first responders were trying to tend to this hairy crash scene, a man in a Dodge Charger drove around their emergency vehicles and flares and nearly hit officers in an apparent attempt to circumvent traffic. When police pulled him over, the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of drunken driving, capping off one heck of an eventful night for law enforcement in the area.
“As drivers, we all have an obligation to our fellow motorists and pedestrians to drive with a clear mind and to obey traffic control devices and speed limits,” said DHPD Chief Jerrod Hart.” According to the eyewitness accounts, speed and reckless driving were contributing factors in the initial serious injury accident – and to then have yet another motorist put our officer’s safety in jeopardy by allegedly driving under the influence is unacceptable.”
