2015 F-150 Finalist for North American Truck of the Year
The North American Car and Truck / Utility of the year is one of the biggest awards given out. Last year, the Chevrolet Silverado was the victor in the truck category.
This year, two Ford Motor Company vehicles are vying for the top truck spot; the Lincoln MKC and the aluminum Ford F-150. The winner will be awarded on January 12th in Detroit during the 2015 North American International Auto Show.
2015 NACTOY Truck / Utility Finalists
- 2015 Ford F-150
- 2015 Lincoln MKC
- 2015 Chevrolet Colorado
Unlike Motor Trend‘s Truck of the Year, the judges for NACTOY come from a variety of different publications, and the award is funded by the journalist members and not a sponsoring agency.
Earlier this year 57 journalists met to drive the competition and vote on their favorite. While Ford does have two of the top spots in the utility category, the Chevrolet Colorado fills out the third spot for a possible victory.
Both the Chevrolet Colorado and Ford F-150 have won some impressive awards so far this year. Back in October, the Texas Auto Writers Association declared the 2015 F-150 the official Truck of Texas.
Motor Trend went a different way favoring the Chevrolet Colorado. At this point, it’s difficult to tell which way the jurors voted in the category. It’s possible that the Lincoln could win, snubbing both new truck models.
These awards are a big deal for the automakers, since they spend millions of dollars of advertising based on these awards. A whole year’s worth of marketing is based on this award.
Ford made a good showing with the finalists for NACTOY this year, the Ford Mustang joins the Hyundai Genesis and the VW Golf / GTI on the car side. It could end up being a good day for Ford at the 2015 NAIAS.
Who do you think should get the win? Does the F-150 have what it takes to not only beat the Colorado but also it’s Lincoln cousin?
