F4 spare tire carrier available

It occurred to me that some of you may have figured out that I won't be using the spare tire carrier that mounts under the F4 now that I have this shorter bed. The tire would be sticking out the back.

So if anyone is interested, pm me. Stu said he doesn't need it any more.

I do not have the correct hanger bolts, as I believe they are made of unobtainium.

How far does the tire stick out? Maybe if you fab up a bumper if sorts that is farther back from the edge of the bed it will cover it?
Maybe

Your truck is looking good.

Thanks Josh.

Well, it won't work. The bed is aligned with the back of the frame.

Here's a shot I took of the "bulge" factor when I had the first short bed I was going to use. I scrapped that idea because I couldn't use the tire carrier.

The spare tire would stick out 6" beyond the back of the frame. I guess I could mount it and see how it looks...

Joe - you'll recall my prior erroneous ***-u-me-ption that a spare would mount under an F-4 same as under mine. Your picture showing the rearward axle mounting location, and related use of the extra spare support brackets, makes it obvious. Both reading it and seeing it helps old people sometimes. Thx. Stu

No problem Stu. I don't really NEED to get rid of the spare carrier. I just started this thread in case someone needed it, since I won't be using it now.

Hoarding begins?

OK, I changed my mind. I'm going to hang onto this spare tire carrier.

Since they're so hard to find, I might want it someday.

Is this the beginning of a hoarding problem?

Do you have the large size storage locker yet, or 40' x 60' metal building? If not you're probably safe - for now. Stu

See, that's exactly the problem. We're looking for a place with at least a 40' x 40' shop. Or a place to build one.

I like the way you think about the 40' x 60' though. More room to, er, ah, work... yeah, that's it.

Whichever you do, it won't be big enough. Stu
