P/S pressure hose used with the Ford/Thompson pump has a fitting on the pump end, threads onto the pump.

C-II P/S pressure hose on the pump end does not have a threaded fitting, has a straight tube with an O-ring on it. It's hand pressed into the qwik connect fitting.

See pic below for 3R608/3D654 and etc attaching qwik connect parts.

C-II P/S pump introduced in 1978 on everything .. except 1978 and later Econolines and 1978/80 Passenger Cars with Hydro-Boost, both used the Saginaw P/S pump.

I think there's been a misunderstanding/perception of how the pressure line connects to a C-2 pump.

3D654 has a threaded male side and a threaded female side. The male side inserts through the plastic reservoir housing and threads into the pump body. 3D654 requires a 15/16" wrench on its hex to remove/install on the pump.

3R608 is the fitting that's attached to the (pump end) of the pressure hose. 3R608 isn't hand-pressed into 3D654. 3R608 is a screwed (5/8"-18 threaded) male fitting. It is tightened into the female side of 3D654 with a 5/8" line wrench --no quick connect feature but, the line will swivel at that connection.

15/16" end wrench on 3D654 pump fitting. 5/8" line wrench on 3R608 (swivel) hose fitting.

The Lincoln Versailles was introduced in 1977. It was produced through 1980 and had hydroboost brakes. From '78-'80, the Versailles was equipped with a C-2 PS pump that had (2) fluid return ports on its plastic housing.

C-II P/S pressure hoses have a straight tube with an O-ring on the pump end. The hose itself is hand pressed into the qwik connect fitting.

1977/80 Versailles and 1975/80 Mercury Monarch were basically rebadged 1975/80 Granada's.

People have been getting the rear disc brakes from the Versailles, but most are unaware that 1975/78 Granada/Monarch with 9" rear axles also came with these same rear disc brakes as standard equipment.

Upper pic: 1978 Granada with C-II P/S pump with Hydro-Boost. Notice the 3F523 P/S pressure hose with its 87004-S100 O-ring .. shows them being pressed into the qwik connect fitting.

Lower pic: 1977 Granada with Ford/Thompson P/S pump. Notice that the 3A719 P/S pressure hose has a fitting on the pump end, so it threads into the fitting on the pump.

The Ford 9-inch rear end with factory disc brakes was standard equipment on '77-'80 Lincoln Versailles. This large axle bearing rear end was first, and optionally, available on the '75-'80 Ford Granadas/Mercury Monarchs.

There were also three other rear ends available in the Granadas/Monarchs; Ford 8-inch rear end with drum brakes, an 8.7" integral rear end (bolt-on rear end housing cover) with drum brakes and, a Ford 9-inch rear end with drum brakes and small axle bearings.

The Versailles 9-inch disc brake rear end was a good wrecking yard donor, 10+ years ago, for a rear disc brake/9-inch rear end swap into an early Mustang/related Ford but, there are far better solutions today to adapt better, later model Ford rear discs --such as this setup that I designed the adapter brackets for, to put '94-'04 SN95 Cobra rear discs/calipers on a small axle bearing (formerly drum brake) 1980 Mercury Monarch 9-inch rear end housing.

Your not telling me anything that I didn't know already.

I was a Ford parts guy for 35 years (1962/97), most of this time I waited on mechanics at the back (shop) parts counter.

Rear disc brakes were only available on 1975/78 Granada/Monarch with 9" rear axles.

Pic: Scroll down towards the bottom of the page to: 2C026-7 rear brake rotors. A = LTD; G = Granada; S = Thunderbird.

1975/78 Granada/Monarch and 1977/80 Versailles used D5DZ rotors.

1975/76 Thunderbird/Continental Mark IV; 1975/78 LTD/Grand Marquis; 1975/79 Lincoln Town Car; 1977/79 Continental Mark V used D5SZ rotors.

Note: My 1973/79 L/M parts catalog is on microfiche, so I cannot post pics from it.
