I just put a boss XT V Plow on my F250 last week and plowed most of the day Saturday and it works great. I was in some deep stuff and the bottom 4 inches has been there for a while and was frozen, the top 4 inches was not frozen. Never got stuck.
At work we have a 2001 F250 crew cab long bed with 3.73 gears and 5.4 motor with a standard Boss plow. Ive used it three times coming in for OT to plow and its pushed snow with ease. Ive plowed with a older chevy diesel so it wasnt like a newer power house diesel but i dont see why the need to have a 500hp diesel to push snow for?? Especially since ive plowed with a 1986 jeep with a plow and it did just as good as the trucks ive driven iPhone from IB AutoGroup
Plowing is a game of persistence anyway. If you wait until you have 14" to move then it's a problem. If you are moving every 4 - 6 then it's easy. We have had so many storms here in the Boston that it's a friggin' joke right about now. I have gone through (Literally) 20' snow drifts, hit the gas, close your eyes and hope to hell that there is no one stuck in there. : )
I plow with a 04 350 DRW with a V10. the truck has more than enough power to move the snow (Although the DRW makes it a little challenging)
